Contrology-Intelligent Exercise

Pilates is an intelligent exercise. It requires you to think about and feel the engagement of the muscles you are working. You try to coordinate your breathing with the movement, your brain with your body. Contrology is what Joseph Pilates called it. There is no whipping around using momentum as the force for the exercise. It is precise and because of that more demanding. Mastery of a move can be exhilarating when all the pieces fall into line. Pilates is safe and healthy for any body if done correctly. You don’t need to to 3 repetitions of 8 or ten. 3 to 6 will do just fine.
