What
is Pilates?
Pilates
offers much more than conventional fitness training - it’s functional.
It is indisputable that both men and women gain a tremendous amount
from Pilates.
Pilates’
movements are remarkably effective. When the moves are executed correctly,
you’ll be amazed at how quickly your body changes.
Pilates
teaches body awareness for correct form to prevent injury.
Pilates
also stretches the spine rather than compressing it as happens with
activities such as aerobics, step work, running and walking. Pilates
strengthens the abdominal muscles which support the spine to prevent,
or at the least, ease back pain.
Learning
to work the lower abdominals has benefits that, well, you’ll just
have to ask about! Pilates lifts, tightens and strengthens those places
you once thought were hopeless.
Runners
need flexibility. Golfers and Tennis players need Core strength and
stability. Surfers, skiers, snow boarders, and skaters benefit from
balanced movement. Basketball, soccer and football players require functional
muscular development and lateral movement capability.
