Pilates Pure N Simple
What
is Pilates?
Pilates
is a proven exercise philosophy which integrates the muscles of the
abdominals, back and hips (known as the Core) to improve strength, flexibility,
posture and balance. Imagine engaging all of your target areas in every
movement! Pilate’s movements are only done three to six times.
You will be amazed at how quickly your body will change.
Pilates
is also the only exercise that you can actually do laying down!.
Learning
to do Pilates correctly requires individual attention at first. The
instructor will need to touch specific muscles to make you aware of
what you are attempting to do. We recommend 3 to 5 individual sessions
for anyone wishing to gain maximum benefit in a group setting.
Why
Pilates?
Pilates
is first and foremost about the spine. Spinal flexibility is key to
spinal health. Pilates stretches the spine rather than compressing it
in such activities as aerobics, step work, running and walking. Pilates
strengthens the abdominals which then support the back to prevent and/or
ease back pain. Learning to work the pelvic floor has benefits that,
well, you’ll just have to ask about. Pilates work lifts, tightens
and strengthens those places you once thought were hopeless. You’ll
be amazed at how quickly your body will change and, Pilates is the only
exercises you can actually do laying down!
